Coaching Program

Players need to have a good command of the basic skills of the game during their formative developmental years, ages 5 through 10.

The "Grass Roots Soccer Coaching Book" and its content designed around the game's key factors is the Introductory Level Course to Coaching taught by Club Head Coaches.

Following a Coaches introductory year to coaching it is recommended that Coaches take the Community Youth One Course hosted by Community Clubs and taught by OSA Course Conductors.

As players move into what is known as their "golden years" ie. ages 10 through 12 it is essential Coaches advance their coaching knowledge of the game and incorporate the Community Youth Two Course into their curriculum.

In order to prepare as a Coach to teach The OSA's coaching philosophy of "Possession Soccer" to players approaching 12 years of age and beyond the Community Senior Course should be added to a Coach's skill set.

The Community Senior Course along with the Community One and Two are required of all Coaches planning to coach Competitive Club-teams.

It is recommended that all Coaches at the Provincial League level seriously consider the B License Course to offer the most advanced technical information to this level of player.
