Notice of Annual General Meeting

SOUTHWEST SOCCER

NOTICE of 2023 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 

Active and Associate Membership - This is notice that Southwest Soccer's AGM is to be held on Wednesday, December 6th 2023.

Location  - Virtual Platform - Microsoft Teams (Link to be provided to registered delegates.)

Time -  7:30PM

Registration - Submitted by December 1st @ 4:00pm to office@swrsa.ca inclusive of Delegate Form,  Proxy Form (if applicable), and payment of any outstanding fees. *See below for Membership Renewal.

AGM Package - AGM Book and Audited Financial Statements will be provided to membership and the recorded delegates/proxies in advance of the meeting.

Amendments - The submission of amendments to Southwest Soccer By-Laws must but completed on the published form and follow Article 8 - 8.1.2 as follows:

8.1.2 All proposed amendments to the By-Laws shall be forwarded in writing to the District Association no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

8.1.3 Copies of the proposed amendments to the By-Laws shall be sent to all members not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the Annual General Meeting at which they will be considered.

An addition to Southwest Soccer's Constitution was received in alignment with 8.1.2 and will be voted on at the AGM.

 

Active Member Delegate - Each active member must accredit one delegate in writing to Southwest Soccer prior to the AGM. On behalf of the active member only the delegate may cast votes and speak.

Member Proxy - As per Article 13-13.2.1 #5 a Member proxy from one active member to another member must be recorded at the District Office at least four days prior to any Annual General Meeting. A Southwest Soccer Proxy Form must be used. 

Membership Renewal - As per Rule 4.2-4.2.9 members must renew membership on a form provided by the district association by November 1st. Required documents for submission and payment ($70.00) are identified on such form and within our published rules. A late fee of $100.00 will be charged to clubs that fail to renew membership prior to the AGM.

AGM Regrets - Attendance or Regrets are to be identified on the Membership Renewal Form. Failure to attend the AGM without providing regrets via the membership renewal form will result in a $100.00 fee.

Member Contact Form - For 2023-24 Membership Renewal it is required that all member organizations complete and submit the Club / League Contact Form inclusive of a designated CHR contact and Discipline Chair (certified) contact. This form is now built into the membership renewal form.

The purpose of collecting this information is to ensure we have the necessary contacts on file for the office administration, Match Official Department and Districts Discipline Chair.

*The provided Discipline Chair (certified) contact must be willing to work with the district and neighbouring clubs. Their contact may be shared with member organizations strictly for use in discipline or code of conduct and ethics proceedings.

Elections for Directors at the 2023 AGM

The following  positions were elected at the 2023 AGM:

Vice -President - 2 year term  - Patrick Bandura

Director-at-Large - 2 year term - Yeliz Sherifali

Director-at-Large - 2 year term - Remains Open

Director-at-Large -1 year term (open) - Kimberly Seed

Submitted nominations are valid with received acceptance from the nominees. 

17.2.1 Nominations shall be forwarded, with the nominees signed consent, on a provided form to the District Association no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

17.2.2 Received nominations shall be posted on the District website not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

Nominations may be submitted from the floor at the AGM for director-at-large positions that remain open following election results of the published nominees.

Please ensure any outstanding fees with Southwest Soccer are paid prior to the AGM to ensure your clubs participation as an active member. Clubs in bad standing can have a delegate present but cannot partake in discussion or voting.

Nominations for Vice-President - 2 Year Term

Patrick Bandura Bio

Hello, my name is Patrick Bandura and I am running for the position of Vice-President of the SWRSA Board of Directors.

In one way or another I have been involved in soccer for more than twenty-five years, either as a coach, a match official or a member of a committee.

Previously I was a member of the youth committee for Kitchener Minor Soccer, a board member for Woolwich Youth Soccer Club.  The treasurer for the South West Soccer Referee Association.  I also served as the Referee Association President. I am also a fully certified Discipline Chair.

Prior to being Vice-President for the past two year for the District, I served as treasurer for twelve years.

Yeliz Sherifali Bio

I’ve dedicated my career to education, primarily within the Waterloo Region District School Board. One of the highlights of my professional journey has been my extensive involvement with the Waterloo Region District Senior School Physical and Health Educators’ Association, where I served as an Executive Member and President for over a decade, showcasing my strong leadership and passion for this field.

I've always had a profound love for sports and education, and I've backed it up with qualifications and experiences. I've completed all levels and components of the National Coaching Certification Program and acquired various certifications in community coaching and youth athletics programs. Currently, I'm actively involved as a coach and mentor, guiding and inspiring my colleagues, students, and athletes.

My journey in youth sports, particularly soccer, has been diverse. I've taken on various roles such as program coordinator, coach, curriculum designer and facilitator, officiator, and fitness and conditioning consultant. My own background as a high-level competitive soccer player during my youth and young adult years has provided me with invaluable insights and skills in the sport.

In addition to my direct involvement in sports, I've recently developed an interest in sport policy, reflecting my commitment to improving the broader sporting landscape. I'm known for my principled approach, consistently fostering a sense of community, fair play, and equity in sports. My dedication to lifelong learning further underscores my commitment to my profession and the betterment of the youth I serve.

My career is a testament to my unwavering commitment to education, sports, and the betterment of our community.

Kimberly Seed Bio

My name is Kimberly Seed and I've had the pleasure of serving on the Board of Directors for the past 3 years as one of the director's at large.  I pursued an undergraduate degree in Child & Youth Studies with a focus on inclusion and disabilities.  I continued my educational career in the Education field, with a Master’s of Ed in Administration and Leadership.  I currently hold the Team Lead position as a Developmental Service Coordinator at a non-profit organization in Guelph, and have worked in the non-profit sector since 2014.  I have enjoyed the game of soccer since a young child, playing both recreationally and competitively.  I continue to play as an adult and thoroughly enjoy the game.  Being a part of the South West Region Soccer Association board of directors has provided me with the opportunity to continue to be involved in the sport at the system level.
