We are pleased to announce the 2020 Southwest Soccer Scholarship program recipients:
Lukas Bena started as a player at age 7 at Cambridge Youth SC and then moved on to Guelph SC at age 15 where he has been a captain of his team for the past 2 years. Since age 13, Lukas has been officiating at all levels of soccer, including Futsal. He also became a coach at age 14 and is currently coaching tiny tots and Futsal. Lukas has been an honor roll student at Preston High School and a member of the Athletic Council every year. Lukas has volunteered in the school and his local community at various youth programs and sports events and taught English to kids in the Czech Republic. Recently, Lukas has been admitted to the University of Guelph in the Mechanical Engineer program. Southwest Soccer congratulates Lukas and wishes success in his studies and future endeavors.
Nikolina Lesic has been playing soccer for Kitchener SC since she was 4 years old and captain of her team for the past 6 years. Throughout her school years, Nikolina has been involved in different sports becoming part of the varsity soccer, badminton, basketball and volleyball teams in the past 3 years. She has been in the honor roll in all four years of high school and a recipient of several academic and sports awards and also has volunteered in her local community at sport and church events. Now that she has enrolled in the Wilfrid Laurier University to study Business Administration, she has also joined the Laurier Women’s soccer team. Southwest Soccer congratulates Nikolina and wishes success in her studies and future endeavors.
