Further to the I2018-025 bulletin, Ontario Soccer’s membership has voted in favour of the governance structure that will modernize the Ontario Soccer Board of Directors.

Under the new governance structure, the business of Ontario Soccer will be conducted by a Board of Directors, composed of 12 elected individuals and one senior staff (the CEO):

• President
• Vice‐President
• Five (5) Regional Directors
• Two (2) Independent Directors
• Three (3) Designated Directors
• The Chief Executive Officer (non-voting)

Regional Directors are now elected by a geographical area, inclusive of the Districts listed below:

North 

Sault Amateur, Soccer North District Association, Soccer Northeastern Ontario, Soccer Northwest Ontario, Sudbury Regional

South

Hamilton & District, Niagara, Peel Halton

East

Eastern Ontario District, Southeast Ontario

West

Elgin Middlesex, Essex County, Lambton Kent, South‐West Regional

Central

Durham Region, East Central Ontario, Huronia District, North York, Scarborough, Toronto, York Region

An Independent or Designated Director will be an individual who must possess particular identifiable competencies or skill sets that will materially assist the Board in performing its strategic and stewardship functions. These directors are nominated by an independent nominations committee.

The independent nominations committee will begin the process of recruiting and recommending candidates for the new Board of Directors over the coming months leading up to the elections that will take place on October 14, 2018.     

Additionally, the Ontario Soccer Board of Directors has voted to approve the By-law amendment to create a District President’s Provincial Forum. 

“The Forum” will be composed of the President, or delegate representing each District Association in Ontario and will submit recommendations to the Ontario Soccer Board of Directors and the CEO on a number of game related matters of business.
